Hall of Fame coach spent 26 years at LCS

LAPEER — in 2023, following 39 years of football coaching, 26 of those with the Lapeer football programmes

Smith, who has been the head coach at the combined Lapeer High since 2014 and Lapeer West from 1988 to 2013.

Smith's positions in the sports department and as Dean of Students will remain.

Smith stated to The County Press on Thursday afternoon, "My wife and I have been considering it for a while.

In addition to wanting to see my grandchildren participate in sports after 26 years as head coach, I now coach high school football.
